Sweet Caroline

Prepare yourself.  This post is about a middle schooler.  I fear middle schoolers a little.  They’re generally so uncomfortable and make me uncomfortable.  I’m not sure what to talk to them about or even how to respond to what they say to me.  I think it’s the hardest age.  I have great respect for those who work with them (my husband and mother.)  Now, scratch all that and meet Caroline.  She is so delightful.  BEAUTIFUL inside and out.  Fun and fun-loving, but still gentle and respectful.  She’s very feminine and girlie, but is quite athletic and keeps up with 3 brothers.  Just after this shoot, she headed to her basketball game.  She assured me she would not be playing in her make-up, even though I thought it was a great idea!

I taught Caroline ballet from when she was 5-years-old until she was around 3rd grade.  She handed out flower petals to the guests at my wedding 8 years ago.  I teach ballet with her mom and that is how this shoot came about.  The two of them are getting involved in pageants together and needed some head shots of this sweet girl.  It was about as easy as it can be.  I don’t think I deleted one single picture from the session because they’re all good!  I’d love to think it’s because of my stellar skills, but it’s also because she is so very photogenic.  What middle school aged girl has that trait?  Look out fellas.  A heart breaker is coming down the pipe.    You’ll see that she is the most precious mix of little girl and young woman.  What a lovely afternoon I had with Caroline! We finished this session discussing how much she loves cooking dinner for all those brothers when her mom travels.  This is her laughing at me saying such a silly thing.
